Kamryn interviewed Tommy Cloyd, a local resident of Greenville NC, to discuss his unique perspective on disability. Tommy was born with cerebral palsy and spastic diplegia. He has faced many trials and tribulations because of his disability. We are so happy he chose to share his story with us!

Tommy Cloyd was born in Mufreesboro, NC. He grew up in a time when the ADA did not exist yet. Being the first of his peers to go into the world with a disability, Tommy noticed the discrimination and hardships that he had to face. Tommy's life has not been an easy one but he has excelled in ways no one expected him to. He is an inspiration to those with and without disabilities.
“ Most people learn to walk one time... I had to learn many." - Tommy Cloyd
This conversation really opened our eyes to the things most able-bodied people take for granted. Something as simple as shopping for groceries can be a task for someone with disabilities.
